MISS RISLEY'S JOURNEY
The tools, experiences, and people who have helped me become the educator I am today
I believe that children are learners who are capable of more because of their resiliency.
I believe teaching is a new day every day where happy accidents occur that help mold minds to create world changers.
I believe education is a connector for all learners regardless of their gender, age or race while being adaptable for their needs.

ABOUT MISS. RISLEY
I have always loved the education world and all that being a teacher had to offer. Ever since I was young, I knew being a teacher was my dream job. I began my first classroom experience as a senior in high school. I was helping my old 5th-grade teacher in her 4th-grade class for an hour each day. This gave me a very small taste into what the next crazy, four years would hold for me.
In the Fall of 2016, I packed up from Libertyville, IL and moved into my soon to be home away from home. Butler University in the beautiful Indianapolis, IN. Writing this, as a soon to be graduating senior, I am in awe of how fast these years have flown by. I have grown deep into my beliefs and have been shaped by my professors and classmates. I have experienced so many different opportunities that the education world has to offer. They have ranged from science demonstrations at the Indianapolis Children's Museum, dissecting worms with Kindergarteners to my two wonderful semesters of student teaching.
This community has pushed me to believe in myself and I'm so grateful for that challenge. I am so thankful for how much Butler's College of Education has prepared me for the many years of teaching to come. I begin my first year as a lead teacher at the Explore! Community School in Nashville, TN. I can't wait to meet all the world changers on our first day in July. Here's to new adventures and so many incredible possibilities!
